Nurse Staffing Cuts and the President’s 2008 budget

Did you hear the latest news in the nursing field of nursing jobs? It’s about President Bush’s much talked about proposal which is part of the 2008 budget. As per the budget 2008, it actually rejects 109 out of the total of 136 nurse positions that are required across most of the medical departments. The budget doesn’t seem to restore 13 Advanced Practice Nurses to the network of clinics which makes the scenario almost appalling and irresponsible. The immediate result was the proposal put forth by the NNOC that canvassed a “patients’ budget” to counterattack the President’s budget. The main thrust of this counterattack was to restore the nurse staffing cuts that affected nursing jobs and address the issue of fiscal deficits and County credibility. Meanwhile, the debate about alternative governance structures is bound to continue.
