When it comes to the expectations by ATO from the change program change management in order to enhance online access to ATO will look forward to an increase in the ability of clients to access their own information directly and electronically by the ATO.
At present, about eighty percent of income tax returns by individuals are lodged via tax agents and about ninety percent of business lodge their tax returns via their agents.
A good number of activity statements and other interactions are correctly handled via tax agents. The tax agents are focused by the ATO for the Change program. However, the ATO also wants to all clients to access their information directly and not via any agent, irrespective of the way they interact with the ATO. This way, the ATO is able to put an equal focus on individuals and businesses.
