The sarbanes oxley act is also known as the Public Accounting and Reform and Investor Protection Act of 2002. There are 11 sections under this piece of legislature, but not all of them are given equal importance at all times. For example, sections 302, 401, 404, 409, 802 and 906 are usually considered to be that most important within the 11 sections. The sarbanes oxley act was planned by two senators: Paul Sarbanes and Michael Oxley; after whom the legislature was named. Although, this legislature has been the law for quite some time, debates about its effectiveness are still on-going.
